Family Stay - Young and Old
We all had a wonderful stay at Valentine's chalet. The chalet is spacious, very well located, and equipped with high-quality amenities. The little rattan or wicker baskets, the cutting boards, the dishes... we felt right at home, not to mention Corinne's delicious meals and Gilles' warm welcome. We were there during the snowstorm (2 meters of snow in 2 days - road closed). Gilles and Mrs. Rives kept us informed about the situation every day. We plan to return next year.

We had a wonderful stay in the lovely chalet at Chez Matine. Located in a charming, typical old mountain village, the chalet is very welcoming (great decor), very comfortable, and very well-equipped. We have absolutely no complaints. We had a fantastic week: some enjoyed skiing in perfect snow conditions, while others enjoyed walks and exploring the very pretty village of L'Ecot above Bonneval. Contacting Anne Rives for the formalities went very smoothly. Thank you, Gilles, for your warm welcome. Congratulations to Ms. Valentine Lambert for the renovation of this chalet. A great success! We will certainly recommend your chalet.

Charming Chalet
The chalet is magnificent, superbly rebuilt (the work took two years) respecting the style of the chalets of Bonneval, undoubtedly one of the most charming villages in the French Alps. Look up in the main room to admire the whole tree trunks brought from Italy. There are no practical issues to report, given the architectural constraints. We are in the heart of historic Bonneval, and a 10-minute walk from the beginner ski area. For the main resort, the shuttle bus stops every 10 minutes, 100 meters from the chalet, and you can ski right back. The delightful bakery is 20 meters away. Gilles' welcome is impeccable, and his wife can even prepare delicious local dishes for you. Keep in mind that the historic chalets of Bonneval do not have direct views of the peaks, given their "protective" design in the heart of a mountain that was very inhospitable in the past.

great stay with friends in Bonneval
Our stay at Matine's in Bonneval was wonderful. The house is very charming and cozy, and very well-equipped for cooking for about ten people. We also really appreciated finding a basic grocery store and had a blast playing the "How many [people] do you have?" game.
Gilles had made space in the laundry room, so we were able to store all our mountain gear there; it was perfect. Communication for the booking was very smooth and responsive.
We will gladly return.

Charmed!
Our stay at "Chez Matine" went very well. We really appreciated the booking process, the quick and efficient communication, the many tips from Anne Rives, and the welcome on site from Gilles. We found the accommodation to be as described, very well-equipped (especially the kitchen), quite clean, and very comfortable. The abundant and well-designed artificial lighting compensates for the lack of natural light in this wonderfully renovated barn. A small suggestion regarding linens: hand towels in the bathrooms (only large bath towels were provided).
One point to note is the weak Wi-Fi connection. Its range and capacity were limited to the immediate vicinity of the router. There was no Wi-Fi on the lower floor or outside on the terrace: good news for those seeking a digital detox. (Editor's note: we've since switched to fiber optic internet; there's very high-speed internet everywhere in the chalet. Sorry for the digital detox :-))
The village is full of charm and the shops are ideally located. Everything is within easy reach during the summer! The warm welcome from the locals and neighbors is noteworthy, especially since the village is extremely popular and overrun with tourists during the day. Fortunately, the evenings are quieter, and the village is regaining its tranquility.
The last point regarding the house: the nuisance created by the "café, grocery, tobacco" sign outside. Its impact was significant and caused frequent interruptions from tourists looking for the said business. This unpleasant situation would certainly be very easy to correct by removing the sign to avoid any confusion.
However, this didn't prevent us from fully enjoying the accommodation and its location. It's an ideal starting point for numerous hikes and bike rides. A special mention goes to the neighbors on the same floor, whose wise advice guided us in planning our mountain outings. We also greatly appreciated all their anecdotes about the life of the Bonneval residents. A wonderful encounter, which certainly enhanced our stay! Furthermore, we enjoyed exceptional summer weather. What more could we ask for, other than the chance to return to stay in Bonneval!

A very nice discovery!
In a magical and authentic place, the old village of Bonneval sur Arc, we enjoyed the splendid setting of Valentine's chalet, the tree trunk frame that supports the lozes roof, the transparent staircase, and all the comfort of the heated floor and the many bathrooms! The generous space of the kitchen and the living space! and outside, only welcoming, friendly people happy to share the history of this village and its customs! And we imagine that each season brings its share of discovery on the fauna, flora and magic of these mountains of the Vanoise!
